For Educators

J.call2ACTionIn order to implement the vision of BolderLife where we hold space for all experience and engage in difficult conversations about life experiences, we bring in presenters and educators who have created their work and studied the numerous ways in which we encounter struggle and teach practices to move through these struggles with courage and grace. So many of us live in an environment that pushes us every step of the way in every single day to make more money, gain more power, and reach more success. On top of that, to achieve those things we are leaving behind health, family, community, and often our own humanity. Lost in a mode of “it’s all about me” we find ourselves forgetting to see the beauty around us, making no time for the things in our own lives that bring us joy and love – the things that connect us with our family and neighbors. We drive full speed ahead down a self-absorbed path, only to awaken to what we are missing when a life crises smacks us in the face. Then we realize that we cannot turn back time. We have grown children we don’t know. We have a hidden secret and no one to share it with. We are in a relationship that is sinking with no idea how or when it got to be this bad. Our parents are aging and we have no tools on how to be the oldest generation. It is in these dark moments where we admit to failure and not knowing that we reach out for help, and at BolderLife we work to facilitate bringing people together to help each other.

Exploring Life – Inspiring Change

Did you know that suicide is the fourth leading cause of death for children between the ages of 10 and 14? Did you know that more than 100,000 men, women and children currently need life-saving organ transplants in the US? Did you know that one in five students, or 15-20% of the population, has a language-based learning disability? Did you know that 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime? Did you know that 20 percent of war vets are diagnosed with psychological disorders including PTSD, and of these 6 in 10 of them are unlikely to seek help for fear their commanders and fellow troops would treat them differently?

Life-altering events are happening every second in someone’s life. Here at BolderLife we aim to shed light on these events and more. Face head-on life’s transitions, while providing a platform to deeper delve into them and provide a community to support your exploration. Happiness is achieved through Growth/Progress. Addressing these topics through our films and educational offerings, BolderLife provides a platform for Growth and Progress. Life is fragile. Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Question the paradigms placed in front of you. You aren’t the only person having this experience. Do not rob your neighbor of hearing your experience – help them to better understand their own.

Finding our Educators

craigThe element which sets BolderLife apart from other festivals is the educational programming which seeks educators that are in allignment with the vision and mission of the festival to come share their vision, purpose and innovation with the community. We carefully selects individules who share a passion for life, education, and change. The format of film followed by an educational program allows us to start a conversation in which we can learn from one another, expose ourselves to differing perspectives, and examine who we are as individuals as well as a community. We are looking for those that are fueled by change and inspiration; the adventurers and the passionately curious.

Our Educational Programming has several facets:

  • Student Outreach Program – BolderLife hosts local high schools and middle schools for a day of films and conversation cultivating emotional intelligence and social and emotional learning which are correlated not only with success in school & career, but also with fulfillment and health in life.
  • Community Partners and Call2Action – Our Call2ACTion Program is a defining piece of the BolderLife Festival. Throughout the festival, local organizations partnering with the BolderLife Festival will staff tables with help and information to further the discussion on a selection of our film topics.
