“Unbreakable Spirit”
Friday Sept. 21 6:00pm-Barn

Short Documentary
Director: Roland Kuehn
Country: Canada
Awards: Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival – Best Short Film (Documentary)
US Premiere

Unbreakable Spirit is the uplifting story of Lynette Kisala, a Kenyan school teacher living with AIDS who, despite extreme hardship, runs a school for orphans and HIV positive children in rural Kenya. With the help of Students for International Development, a small group of volunteer students from the University of Toronto, and money raised by an elementary school in Ottawa, Lynette is able to provide food, health care, clothing and education for many vulnerable and marginalized children. Moreover, Lynette’s honesty, gifted leadership, and stubborn refusal to accept the world the way it is, transforms the community at large, especially those suffering from AIDS. When Lynette dies unexpectedly, her unbreakable spirit lives on through the people she helped and inspired in Kenya and Canada.
