“Love trumps fear… being bold is loving”

18 Nov

BolderLife is very proud to present Craig Zablocki – A Motivational Speaker for Change.  Craig wants to bring you a world where audiences don’t just sit through a humorous keynote, but sit on the edge of their seats. A world where what they learn gets used right away, gets passed on to others, gets results.  A world where everyone leaves more connected to one another, more alive and having more fun. Craig is one of the best prepared humorous motivational speakers available. And you can meet him on December 8th, 2013 at the BolderLife Festival.

We had the chance to speak with Craig about humor, living bold and our upcoming Festival.

cd_craig_zablocki_liveBolderLife Festival: Craig, you are the Humorous Motivational Speaker. Why is humor the best way to encourage people, to gain new insights and to find new ways of thinking and living?

Craig Zablocki: Laughter is universal.  Once I was speaking with a very large culturally diverse group and I had 10 people that spoke different languages come to the front of the room and stand on the stage.  Then I asked the audience to close their eyes and guess the language of the person I was going to point to.  I had the volunteers on stage laugh one at a time, “in their native language.”  As you can imagine, no-one could differentiate and after a while we all started to laugh.

Life is grand.  Life is mysterious.  And we humans are funny.  When we can find humor in our humanity, when we can laugh at ourselves, and not take ourselves too seriously, we can free up a lot of energy to be creative and live purposefully.  Great ah-ha moments of insight are usually preceded by ha-ha moments.  Laughing “with” others, (versus “at” others, which unfortunately is quite prolific in our society) everyone would agree is amazing.

BolderLife Festival:  What do you think about BolderLife’s vision/mission statement?

Craig: I love the “freedom, love, presence and purpose through fearlessness for a more fulfilled life for all,” part of your mission. Most of my work is with individuals and groups who do if fact want that and are looking for “tools” to do so.  My programs are basically looking at the differences between 5 year olds and ourselves. Who we used to be before we so called “grew up” and helping people reclaim these qualities we had as kids. What qualities you ask?   Here are just a few… They laugh a lot, are very creative, live in the moment, give 100%, are pretty fearless, not anywhere near as self conscious as we are, and generally don’t think anything is wrong with them. Kids just want to play, they live from happiness (we live for happiness), and basically embody the mission statement of BolderLife.

BolderLife Festival:  What would you say to the world:  Why should people come to the BolderLife Festival and to your show?

Craig: I would come just to try something new. I, like many “grownups” get stuck in a rut and need to try something new to kick-start my creativity and get me inspired. I am just curious about things. (By the way, another great natural quality of kids, why this, why that…) Curiosity is the precursor to creativity.  The premise of my program: living a bold life is who we really are, we just have to see how we’ve blocked this reality from our lives. Fear, worry, our ego. These are the blocks to a bolder life and we’ll have a change to look at them head on with lots of humor.

BolderLife Festival: Do you live a bolder life? What do you personally think about how to live a bolder life?

Craig: I think all of us move on the continuum between a constricted, limited way of life and an all out bold way. Every day I find myself vacillating between the two extremes and for me it comes down to, Am I coming from a place of fear or a place of love? Love trumps fear… being bold is loving.

I think we could all live a bolder life if we lived each day like it was the last (could be, you don’t know) and if we all got comfortable being embarrassed. I often ask my audiences how much energy do we spend with  living our lives “trying not to be embarrassed.” Tons they say. I say go out and be more embarrassed, get used to it, don’t make it so gosh darn significant. And then, we may be bold without even knowing it.

Thank you very much, Craig! We are looking forward to your show!
