“It’s a life changing event.”

10 Oct

The staff members of BolderLife Festival are  working since months to make this years event to an outstanding experience for all being involved.

How Artistic Director Erin Kelly said lately:  “I firmly believe that this year will be our best yet.”

The hard working BolderLife Festival team will be supported by many advisers, assistants and volunteers. They all will come together in Denver, Colorado, for the Festival week in December. They are coming from different parts of the U.S. and even from other continents like Australia and Europe.

One of these passionate staff members  is Gina Scialla – nicknamed the BLF-momma or as she call herself  the “Jane of all Trades”. She  is usually living and working in New York City area. Today we want to meet Gina.

Hi Gina, how did you get involved to BolderLife Festival? g and ash-2

Gina:  About a year and a half ago, I reached out to Erin Kelly in support of her filmmaking ventures. The topic of the film festival came into fold during our initial conversation and after doing some research on the festival and getting to know Erin, I became very interested in supporting the festival and doing whatever I could to bolster attendance, fundraising and help in any way possible.

Why do you believe in the vision and the mission of BolderLife Festival?

Gina:   In my humble opinion this little festival is amazingly fearless in bringing light and focus on difficult and often controversial subject matter. Issues such as homelessness, mental illness, abuse, autism, homosexuality, GMOs, our environmental issues and so many more need to be discussed openly, not with shame or fear, but with compassion and awareness. This festival lets that happen. My adoration for this festival comes from the simple fact that those involved come from a pure place and work in unison to bring these very pivotal issues into the mainstream for everyone to see, discuss and understand, versus run away, put their heads in the sand and not become educated. This is why I believe in BolderLife Festival.

What is your job with the team at BolderLife? What are you doing within the next few weeks?

Gina:  Well, that’s an interesting question. I tend to be a “Jane of all Trades” when it comes to the BolderLife Festival. I work with the team where I am needed, at this time I am working the Sponsor/Marketing/Fundraising side, I interface with our amazing Graphic Designer, Joe Rosa, I have been part of the film selection committee and in the upcoming weeks I will be working more specifically with the media and viral marketing channels to get the word  out there about the festival.

What are you doing when you are not working for BolderLife Festival?

Gina:  I own a small consulting firm which works in the field of Asset Management. But my true passion is finalizing the first non profit Proton Therapy Cancer Center in the United States. We are looking to break ground with a very well known and established Cancer Center in 2014 and bring this technology to that center in order to assist in defeating various types of cancer.

sunset What do you expect from the festival films and plays this year?

Gina: I expect a lot!  I know those who take the time to attend will grow from the experience. There are films which will truly make you stop and be in awe with the messages they are conveying. I’m confident it will be an amazing turn out and the film submissions this year were just so impressive, it was very difficult to choose one over the other.  I am equally confident the theatrical side of the festival this year will be just as  inspirational an thought provoking.

What would you say to the world about why people should come to the festival?

Gina:  It’s a life changing event.  It changed my life last year and gave me a great deal of  perspective on my own life and the world I live in today. The Festival opens so many doors to people who come with open minds and hearts, I can promise that with the musical, theatre, talk-back and film programs you will not leave disappointed.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Gina:  Being in the New York City area and away from the physical location of the event and the Team, I am looking forward to getting out to Colorado again and seeing everyone. But just as important to me is to meet and greet those coming to the festival, to see the success of it all as each person leaves perhaps with a life lesson, a message to convey forward or a new way of thinking on things. To me that’s the essence and true meaning of the BolderLife Festival.

We are looking forward to meet you in Denver soon. Thank you so much, Gina!
